Faith explained as Walking on the Word

Understanding Faith: Walking on the Word

Hello, my name is Richard Kent. Today, I want to delve into the concept of faith, particularly the idea of walking on the Word. It may sound peculiar, but allow me to explain.

The Seven Senses: A Spiritual Perspective

During my time at Medical School, I was taught about the five physical senses: sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell. However, I came to realize that God operates on a different scale. Just as there are seven days in a week, seven colors in a rainbow, and seven notes in music, there are seven senses, not just five. Alongside the familiar physical senses, there are two spiritual senses: conscience and Rima.

Conscience: The Sixth Sense

Our conscience, often regarded as the sixth sense, serves as a moral compass, guided by the Holy Spirit. It helps us discern right from wrong, acknowledging the existence of God, as outlined in Romans chapter one.

Rima: The Seventh Sense

For Christians, there exists a seventh sense, Rima, which is the revealed Word of God. Unlike the other senses, Rima transcends the physical realm, providing personal revelations from Scripture. For instance, the belief in God’s creation of the heavens and the earth stems from the scriptural truth found in Genesis.

Walking on the Word: A Biblical Example

Consider the account of Peter walking on water as recounted in the Gospels. When Jesus bid Peter to come, it was a Rima, a word directly from Christ. Peter stepped out in faith, defying the laws of physics, walking on the Word of Jesus. However, when Peter succumbed to doubt, focusing on the physical sensations of the raging sea, he began to sink. Yet, even in his moment of fear, he cried out to Jesus, who promptly rescued him.

Living by Faith: A Personal Testimony

Allow me to share a personal anecdote that underscores the power of faith. Years ago, my wife experienced sudden blindness in her left eye due to a retinal vein thrombosis. Despite medical prognosis of permanent blindness, she chose to stand on the Word of God. Psalm 103 became her anchor, declaring healing over her condition. Against all odds, after nine months of steadfast faith, her sight was miraculously restored, confounding medical experts.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, faith transcends mere physical senses. It involves trusting in the revealed Word of God, even when circumstances suggest otherwise. By walking on the Word, we navigate life with divine guidance, defying natural limitations. May this testimony encourage you to walk by faith, not by sight. Thank you for listening, and may God bless you abundantly.
