Victory Over Satan Won At The Crucifixion

Crucifixion With Marks The Cross gives all believers victory over Satan and over all demons, which are fallen angels.

God cursed Satan in the Garden of Eden. It is written in Genesis 3:14-15, “So the Lord God said to the serpent: “Because you have done this, you are cursed more than all cattle, and more than every beast of the field; on your belly you shall go, and you shall eat dust all the days of your life. And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.”

This is the first mention of the Crucifixion. God says that Satan will “bruise the heel of Jesus Christ”, referring to the Crucifixion. But the eventual victory would go to Jesus Christ, because “He will bruise your head.” Satan was delivered a mortal death blow to the head at the Crucifixion.

In Luke 10:17-20 we read, “Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.” And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from Heaven. Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in Heaven.”

It is written in Revelation 12:11, “And they overcame him (Satan) by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony”

According to Revelation 12:11, believers in Jesus Christ overcome Satan by:

  • The Blood of Jesus Christ, spilled at the Crucifixion.
  • The scriptural words that come out of our mouths. Jesus said to Satan in the wilderness, “It is written” and we should do the same. Satan is defeated by the Word of God.
