Golgotha, the Place of the Skull, is at the Northern summit of Mount Moriah, where many believe Abraham offerred Isaac to God. Golgotha is very close to a quarry, and is where the Jews historically stoned criminals to death. The Romans adopted this site as the place of execution by crucifixion.
Jesus Christ was introduced as “The Lamb of God” by John the Baptist in John 1:29, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” As already stated, Golgotha is the highest geographical point on Mount Moriah, and the site of the Crucifixion.
