18. OLD COVENANT: By Rabbinic tradition, at the end of this period of 3 hours, the high priest stood up and said, “It is finished”
This was at the very heart of the Old Covenant Temple sacrifice.
18. NEW COVENANT: Jesus Christ said, “It is finished” from the Cross
At the Crucifixion, Jesus was the High Priest. From the Cross Jesus said “It is finished” (John 19:30) just before He died. Jesus was saying the very words used on the Day of Atonement every year by the high priest.
