Welcome to “To The Point”! Today, we delve into the fascinating topic of resurrection bodies and explore what our bodies will be like in heaven. Aging bodies, with limitations on running marathons, will give way to the promise of rejuvenation.
The Resurrection of Jesus:
Let’s start by examining Jesus’ resurrection, a pivotal moment. In His resurrected state, Jesus could speak audibly and be heard by human ears. Mary Magdalene, in the garden, recognized His voice, highlighting the tangible nature of Jesus’ resurrection body (John 20:14). Our anticipation of new bodies is grounded in the transformative power witnessed in Jesus’ resurrection.
Philippians 3:20 – Our Heavenly Homeland:
In Philippians 3:20, we are reminded that our true homeland is in heaven, eagerly awaiting the return of our Savior, Jesus Christ. His return will usher in a transformation of our dying bodies into glorious bodies, mirroring His own post-resurrection state.
Characteristics of Resurrection Bodies:
Drawing parallels between Jesus’ resurrection body and our future bodies, we note various characteristics. Jesus, in His resurrected form, could be seen and touched, and He even ate food. The disciples recognized Him, and He demonstrated abilities like speaking and eating (Luke 24:43).
Transportation in Eternity:
Examining Jesus’ movements, from appearing in the upper room to vanishing from the road to Emmaus, we explore the concept of eternity. Jesus, existing outside the confines of time, showcases the potential for instant transport, moving through time effortlessly.
Understanding Eternity:
Einstein’s Law of Relativity, expressed through the equation E=mc^2, introduces the relationship between energy, mass, and the speed of light. When God declared, “Let there be light,” time began (Genesis 1). As we approach heaven, we anticipate entering eternity, where time ceases to exist.
The Transfiguration – A Glimpse into Eternity:
In the Transfiguration, we witness Jesus radiating light, a preview of His glorified state. Moses and Elijah, present with Jesus, highlight the eternal existence beyond earthly time. This event, occurring on the seventh day, signifies God’s supernatural signature.
Recognition in Heaven:
1 Corinthians 13:10 emphasizes that, in heaven, we shall know and be known instantly. The perfection that comes with being in the presence of God eliminates the need for introductions. Recognition will extend to our departed loved ones and biblical figures, creating a seamless connection.
Transformation of Our Bodies:
Paul, in 1 Corinthians 15:51, unveils the mystery of our bodies being changed in an instant, either through death or the potential Rapture. This transformation involves shedding our corruptible forms for incorruptible, and mortality giving way to immortality.
Instantaneous Transformation:
The changing of our bodies is described as instantaneous, occurring in the smallest possible amount of time, known as “atomus.” This transformation will happen in the twinkling of an eye as the trumpet sounds, emphasizing the immediacy and significance of this event.
Caterpillar Metamorphosis:
Moving on to a captivating analogy, we consider caterpillars in Image 17. Just as these creatures undergo a profound metamorphosis, wrapping themselves in silk cocoons (Chrysalis) and emerging as butterflies, our mortal bodies will similarly put on immortality. This process reflects the transformative nature of resurrection.
DNA Similarities:
Image 19 introduces a captivating revelation about the DNA of caterpillars and butterflies. Despite distinct life stages, their DNA remains identical. While the specifics of our DNA’s role in the resurrection process are unknown, this parallel offers a fascinating perspective.
Divine DNA Design:
Image 20 explores the intricacies of human DNA, emphasizing its divine pre-programming. As we transition into Resurrection bodies, the original design stored in the heavenly mainframe will ensure our recognizable form in eternity.
Radiant Health and Shining Bodies:
The subsequent images (21 and 22) draw connections between Moses, whose face shone like the sun after encountering God on Mount Sinai, and the anticipated radiance of our Resurrection bodies. Matthew 13:43 and Daniel 12:2 further suggest that the righteous will shine like the sun and the stars in the Kingdom of heaven.
Powerful and Spiritual Bodies:
Images 27 and 28 introduce the concepts of increased power and spirituality in our Resurrection bodies. Drawing inspiration from Samson’s strength, our bodies will surpass even his might. Additionally, the spiritual nature of these bodies aligns them with the characteristics of Jesus’ resurrection body.
Holiness and Perfection:
Moving forward, Image 29 touches on the holiness of our Resurrection bodies, emphasizing their faultlessness and freedom from sin. Full of the fruits of the Holy Spirit, these bodies will embody qualities like love, joy, peace, kindness, gentleness, meekness, faithfulness, and self-control.
Immortal and Incorruptible Bodies:
The final images (23 and 30) highlight key attributes of our Resurrection bodies. These bodies will be immortal, living forever, and incorruptible, free from decay. Radiant health, gloriously designed, and shining like the sun, our Resurrection bodies will embody the perfection of God’s divine plan.
Recognizing Jesus on the Shore:
In this segment, we learn that the disciples on the shore not only recognized Jesus but could hear Him clearly, and they later shared a meal with Him. The revelation that Jesus ate in His resurrection body emphasizes the tangible and relatable nature of these transformed bodies.
John on the Island of Patmos:
Moving to Image 7, which depicts John on the island of Patmos, we explore how John instantly recognized the Lord Jesus when He appeared to him. This reaffirms the theme of instant recognition in resurrection bodies, highlighting the profound connection between individuals.
Ascension of Jesus into Heaven:
Image 8 showcases Jesus ascending into heaven, demonstrating instant transport and the ability to move through time without conventional means. This mirrors Jesus’ earlier appearances where he entered the upper room without passing through doors, providing a glimpse into the transcendent nature of resurrection bodies.
Understanding Eternity:
The discussion delves into the concept of eternity, explaining how Jesus, in His resurrection body, exists outside the fourth dimension of time. The analogy of a plastic box within a box helps illustrate the idea that while we are confined by time, Jesus transcends it, allowing for supernatural movement and appearances.
The Transfiguration:
Image 15 captures the Transfiguration, a pivotal moment where Jesus, in His resurrection body, radiates light, and Moses and Elijah appear alongside Him. The account underscores the brightness of Jesus’ body and the recognition of these figures from eternity, showcasing the continuity between our earthly and heavenly existence.
Arrival in Heaven:
As we transition to Image 16, titled “Heaven,” we encounter the biblical promise that when we reach heaven, we will be in eternity, a place where time ceases to exist. The verses from 1 Corinthians 13:10 emphasize the perfection and clarity of knowledge in heaven, where recognition is instantaneous and mutual.
Transformation of Our Bodies:
Returning to the core theme, the discussion revisits the transformation of our bodies as described in 1 Corinthians 15:51-53. The instantaneous and complete change, represented by the term “atomus,” reinforces the swift and comprehensive nature of the transition to resurrection bodies.
Analogies with Caterpillar Metamorphosis:
An intriguing analogy is drawn with caterpillars and butterflies in Images 17 and 18. Just as caterpillars undergo metamorphosis to become butterflies, mortal bodies will put on immortality. The comparison extends to the identical DNA of caterpillars and butterflies, sparking thoughts on the transformation of our own DNA.
Pre-Programmed Human DNA:
Image 20 explores the idea that our human DNA is pre-programmed by God, with the original design stored in a heavenly mainframe. The anticipation is that during the transition to resurrection bodies, God will use this original design to ensure recognizability in heaven.
Shining Like the Sun:
Images 21 and 22 portray Moses’ radiant face after encountering God on Mount Sinai, foreshadowing the belief that our bodies in heaven will shine with light. The scriptural references from Matthew 13:43 and Daniel 12:2 emphasize the radiant and luminous nature of the righteous in the Kingdom of heaven.
Exploring Resurrection Bodies
I’d like to share some quick insights about our bodies, focusing on the concept of Resurrection bodies. In the final three minutes, we delve into the immortal nature of these bodies (Image 23), emphasizing their eternal existence and perfect suitability for heaven.
Incorruptible Bodies and Radiant Health (Image 23)
Our Resurrection bodies are destined to be incorruptible, ensuring a state of perpetual radiant health. Drawing from 1 Corinthians 15:54, this transformation signifies the transition from mortal bodies to immortality. The implications are profound—we anticipate lives free from the need for doctors, dentists, or surgeons, as our health will be nothing short of fantastic.
Perfectly Formed Bodies (Image 25)
Reflecting on Adam and Eve in Image 25, born in perfect health and form, we anticipate a similar perfection for our Resurrection bodies. This aligns with the belief that we, too, will be perfectly formed.
Glorious Bodies Like Jesus (Image 26)
Drawing parallels with the Transfiguration (Philippians 3:21), our Resurrection bodies are expected to be glorious, akin to Jesus himself. This transformation promises bodies that shine with visible light, reminiscent of Moses’ radiant face.
Spiritual Transformation (Image 28)
Moving forward, our Resurrection bodies will not only be powerful but also spiritual (Image 28). While remaining tangible, they will share characteristics with Jesus’s spiritual body.
Holiness and Freedom from Sin (Image 29)
Looking at Image 29, our Resurrection bodies promise holiness, faultlessness, and freedom from sin. Filled with the fruit of the Holy Spirit, we anticipate embodying love, joy, peace, kindness, gentleness, meekness, faithfulness, and self-control.
Likeness to Jesus (Image 30)
According to 1 John 3:2, we anticipate being like Jesus when revealed, seeing Him as He is.
