The Traditional Site Of The Red Sea Crossing

Exodus Traditional Site Crossing Most Biblical maps show the Children of Israel crossing the Sea of Reeds, a site very close to Goshen and Succoth, and North of the Gulf of Suez. As its name implies, the Sea of Reeds is about 3 feet deep, which is hardly deep enough to drown an entire army! Also, there are no mountains there!

The land near Goshen is very flat. However, the Bible records that the Children of Israel were “closed in”. In Exodus 14:3 the Bible reads, “For Pharaoh will say of the Children of Israel, ‘They are bewildered by the land; the wilderness has closed them in,'” NKJV.
