Crucifixion

Fulfillment 14

Crucifixion 14. OLD COVENANT: The Old Covenant Temple Sacrifice happened every year on the Day of Atonement, on the 10th day of the 7th month

14. NEW COVENANT: Jesus Christ was crucified on Passover

We have to be honest and admit that we do not know why Jesus Christ chose Passover, rather than the Day of Atonement, to sacrifice Himself. If the Lord chooses to enlighten us further about this, we will edit this section of the web site. It has taken us many years to work everything else out, as far as we have, so it is not surprising that we have not yet fully understood the whole of the Typology.

The Passover

There is a great deal of typology concerning the Passover.

The Children of Israel were in slavery to Pharaoh, a type of Satan. God commanded them to kill an adult male lamb, without any blemish, a type of Jesus Christ. The lamb was slaughtered, and its blood placed on the wooden door posts, a type of the Cross. None of its bones were broken, foreshadowing the Crucifixion.

When the Angel of Death passed over their house nobody in the house would die if the blood of the lamb was placed on the door posts. This is a picture of the Crucifixion. The Blood on the Cross was in approximately the same places as the blood of the slaughtered lams on the wooden door lintels.

The Day of Crucifixion was Passover. Over 3,000 lambs were being slaughtered in the Temple on Mount Moriah about 1/2 mile away, at exactly 3 pm.

At 3 pm Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God died, rejected by God the Father, as the sin offering of the New Covenant.
